Joe and Elva Riendeau summer of 1959, Yakima, Washington.  Probably dressed up for either LDS Pioneer Day celebration or Yakima Pioneer Days of some sort.  Will check into that one.  Some where I believe we still have this out fit they are wearing.  Janice and I wore the dress  and the yellow one (Grandma is wearing it in another picture) when we dressed up for the Pioneer Day parades we used to do in Primary.  Of course those were the days when Primary was still held one day a week after school!  Jill 3-31-13

Steven Hopkins

So after a little bit of looking at family trees on ancestry I found an interesting tidbit  of information. If every thing is correct we are related to Stephen Hopkins. Well, I know that doesn't sound all that interesting but you probably don't know who he is. He was one person who came over to America on the Mayflower and signed the Mayflower compact. His family was one of the only family that didn't have any one die through the first winter. He was also stranded in the Bermuda Triangle for a while. While there he was sentenced to hanging because of mutiny but begged his way out of it. He was very feisty. It has been reading and learning a little bit more about Stephen Hopkins.

The great thing about having some one "famous" in our family history is they are pretty easy to research.

at the bottom of the stairs where they took a turn and went down a couple more steps!
The foundation sure doesn't look very big, maybe part of it has already been removed.

The next few pictures and posts are what remain of the house we once lived in on Erb's Dairy in
Jefferson, Oregon. These pictures were taken yesterday, 18 December 2010 on my way
home from visiting Dad at the hospital in Lebanon, Oregon. A teenage girl answered the door
and said their parents were not home but thought they wouldn't mind my taking a couple
of pictures. I might of been braver to take more and ask other questions had parents been
home. As I drove by I was surprised to see the house in rubble so went back to get a picture
of the rubble. Guess that will be about as close to a picture of the house that we may get! Maybe
some day I'll stop in again.

This post is in relation to the pictures of the Albany Ward building:

This is the ward building we attended from November 1968 until the Jefferson Branch was started in the early 1980's. This building was a white color during our teenage years and has just in the past couple of years been changed to the red color. This is the building that has an upstairs and downstairs on the east wing of the building. This building is located near Geary Street and SE 28th - probably 1615 SE 28th Ave. Albany, Oregon. Some fun memories here! I remember doing a Primary Pioneer Parade down the sidewalk and around the church once! Kids used to crawl out the bathroom windows that are downstairs! I remember walking upstairs that first Sunday for Sunday School which was in the morning then, and walking into a classroom full of boys and they they loudly said something to the effect "ew, a girl!" Sister Adams, the teacher commented "I'm a girl aren't I?" I think it somewhat quieted them down some! There is a baptismal font in this building (was then anyway) so Jay and Jon were probably baptized here. Greg and I had our wedding reception here. When we started attending church here it was just the Albany Ward. Some years latter it was divided into two wards, Albany 1st and Albany 2nd. We were in the Albany Second Ward until the Jefferson Branch was started.

I took a quick side trip into Albany this past Friday while down visiting Dad and Cloene. Mostly Dad as he has been in the hospital this week due to bowel complications relating to hand
surgery done in relation to cutting it with a table saw.

If you have any memories of attending church in this building and would like to add to this just let me know and we will do that! Jill
